I don’t believe there is anyone that truly has it all figured out when it comes to the advancements and knowledge around technology and healthcare.   With so many different technology applications, laws, regulations, coding standards, and expectations…It is nearly impossible to fully understand everything.

Social Media and Healthcare

It was reported on a well known healthcare blog, Found In Cache, that as of January 23, 2011, 906 hospitals were using 3,087 social sites.  In nine months time that same blog reported 1,229 hospitals were using 4,118 social sites.  As we all know social media is a growing part of healthcare.  It is still difficult for some healthcare organizations to see where to start with social media.

Last month I wrote about the importance of securing mobile data in hospitals.  This month I will offer some additional information on what can be done to prevent putting patients and hospitals at risk of security breaches.  With the growing population of new technology being used in hospitals and medical offices, protecting patient data on electronic devices is now essential to protecting hospitals from both legal and financial disaster.
